The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is about to accept some of the 30 million patients with rare, undiagnosed conditions at its new on-campus clinic.
Chief genomics officer Howard Jacob, Ph.D., says visits to this clinic are similar to what you would experience during a routine trip to the doctor’s office.
“We’ll take some blood from them and it will be sent over to HudsonAlpha,” Jacob explains, “We’ll read their entire genome. The analytical work will be done at HudsonAlpha. Then we’ll generate a report that then helps us make a diagnosis.”
